Crocodile Point, also known as Crocodile Rock, is a stunning natural landmark located about \(2\) km south of Arugam Bay. Famous for its unique shape resembling a crocodile’s head, it offers a scenic viewpoint, gentle surf breaks, and abundant wildlife, though visitors must exercise extreme caution regarding local crocodiles.

The fastest and most comfortable route utilizes the Southern Expressway (E01) before transitioning to scenic national highways through the southern and eastern plains.

Colombo to Southern Expressway: Head out of Colombo and enter the expressway network (via Kaduwela, Kottawa, or Peliyagoda) to get onto the Southern Expressway (E01) heading south.Expressway Exit: Follow the E01 all the way to its southern terminus, exiting toward Mattala / Hambantota.Through Wellawaya & Monaragala: Connect to the A4 Highway (Colombo – Ratnapura – Wellawaya – Batticaloa Road) via Wellawaya, continuing through Monaragala.Lahugala to Arugam Bay: Pass through the scenic Lahugala Kitulana National Park forest corridor on your way into Pottuvil, then turn south toward Arugam Bay.Final Stretch: From Arugam Bay town, drive south along Panama Road for about 2–3 km until you reach the access pathway for Crocodile Rock.
